DEXTech

Sample preparation is one of the most elaborate and time-consuming process steps within dioxin and PCB analysis. Easy-to-use and at the same time reliable automation makes your work in the laboratory much simpler.

The LCTech Systems DEXTech Plus and DEXTech are suitable for sample preparation for all types of dioxin and PCB analysis:
  • Food and feed samples, such as fish, meat, and fish oil, eggs, vegetable oils and animal feed mixtures,
  • environmental samples, such as soil, sewage sludge, sediments,
  • biological matrices, such as blood.

Easy handling, fast processing in less than 1 hour, very low solvent consumption, inexpensive due to reusability of columns, no cross-contamination!

The DEXTech system consists of the following components: unit, certified, ready-to-use columns and a universal standard method.

  1. Main Unit
  2. Certified, ready-to-use columns
  3. A universal standard method

DexTech, can be used for sample preparation for all dioxin and PCB analysis.

  • Food and feed samples including fish, meat, fish oil, sea food, cheese, egg, oil, pre-mix, pet food etc.
  • Environmental samples including soil, waste, sediment etc.
  • Biological matrices including blood etc.

Four Column Concept

The advantages of LCTechs columns for the dioxin analysis are impressive:

  • High capacity
  • Ready-to-use: take the column from the packing; “just click it” into the system, ready!
  • Perfect clean-up of separation of dioxins and three fractions of PCB
  • Applicable for all matrices
  • Perfect column for each application: Universal and SMART column
  • Simply inserting the column "just click it" (no screw)
  • Easy change between Universal and SMART column by using the adapter
  • Reusability of the the carbon columns up to 20 times (cost savings)

Different Samples - Different Columns

LCTech provides different acidic silica gel columns for various applications:

  • The loading capacity of the Universal column is with 5 g of fat very high, and is essential in order to achieve the low detection limits.
  • Because of a special silver nitrate layer, the Universal is suitable for all kind of matrices, even for those containing Sulphur.
  • For samples with a low fat content of up to 1.5 g or a small matrix load, the SMART columns can be used. These significantly reduce the required amount of solvent as well as the processing time.

The fat can be degraded by the silica gel, which is impregnated with concentrated sulphuric acid. The user has visual control due to the glas material of the column. In addition, water residues are removed from the sample and the sample is then neutralised for the subsequent cleanup.

Just Click it

The different columns, Universal or SMART column can easily be exchanged from sample to sample through the use of an adapter – “just click it”.

Patented electrical locking mechanism,
allows the user to click in the column without any need for tools or screw connections.

The Acid Silica column (1) and the subsequent Florisil column (2) are made of glass and are separately shrink-wrapped to a special foil with aluminium barrier layer. That is especially important to avoid any adsorption of water or even dioxins / PCB from the environment.
The columns with activated carbon (small and large carbon column) (3) and (4) are shrink-wrapped in groups. That means that all LCTech columns are protected against outside influences even at adverse conditions.

Economical - Multiple reuse of the columns
A significant reduction of costs per sample can be achieved by reuse of the two carbon columns. Using these columns for twenty cycles acquires a cost saving of up to 30% without compromising the sensitivity of the results.
Cross contamination is prevented through the well-designed solvent supply management.

Once the LCTech columns are unpacked they are ready for use. This means that no control or fitting of the columns to the right chemical environment is necessary. The price per LCTech column is attractive, also compared to manual preparation under consideration of pre-tests, acquisition, storage and cost for working steps that are necessary for sample preparation (filling in, rinsing glass columns, etc.).

Proficiency Test of the European Reference Laboratory – Feed Fat 2014

After a successful proficiency test of the EURL in 2013 (“Feed Fat 2013”, results see below), the gures below show the results of the recent proficiency test of the EURL for dioxin and PCB, Freiburg, for sample preparation of Sepiolite extracts. Therein the DEXTech system were used in two different laboratories (CVUA MEL, Germany and LGL, Oberschleißheim, Germany, both governmental laboratories) and applied for different matrices.
